St. Joe's Students Busted

It was a sobering end to classes for hundreds of Saint Joe's University students.

They were cited for underage drinking at an off-campus establishment Friday night.

Pennsylvania State Police, acting on a tip from Lower Merion Police, raided the IA Social Club on the 6600 block of Haverford Avenue.

They cited nearly 500 students for drinking underage. PSP-Philadelphia corporal Jonathan White says several people were arrested, including the owner of the social club.

Police said the party had been planned on the website MySpace. The students set up buses to take them to and from the club.

I woke up to my mother telling me about this, this morning and I have to say I am shocked that anyone would pursue this. Primarily, I am concerned with the fact that the kids had buses to take them to and from their destination thus eliminating driving while under the influence. I know underage drinking is not legal however, but their college students and it's the end of the semester -- whats wrong with a little bit of fun? What they need to focus on are the kids who are still back at the dorms doing much harder drugs, the ones who are hiding out wishing that someone could help them out versus the kids who are doing nothing that wrong that would cause this much publicity.

Well anyway, I have to head to SJU now for class, so until next time :-)
