Visually Stimulating.
I wanted to touch on an artist, who's work, I absolutely adore -- and that's Jeff Soto. I'm not even sure how I was introduced to his work but I believe that it's brilliant. From what I've read, his work is inspired from various aspects of his childhood, including the games he once played, movies, music, sports, and other activities.
As an artist myself, I love to see the work of other altered minds such as myself. The fusion of colors, objects, emotions are portrayed in such an apparent way that one could assure that his childhood was very interesting.
I wish I was able to make something of my artwork. When people visit our apartment they see some of my artwork which we have hanging on the fridge (I feel 7 years old admitting that) and most people will always say something about my work. Most everyone believes I have a talent, my parents included.
Personally, it is a way for me to visually display my emotion from certain events. But of course, art is a reflection of something or another.
Thought it is nice to hear it coming from my parents that they believe I have a "hidden talent" and that they think I should have went to art school instead of traditional college. I wanted to become a doctor and they wanted me to be an artist. Well, I can't afford the lifestyle I want to live being an artist, so unless they want to fund my preferred lifestyle, I'm going to continue my education in the direction which I've chosen.
I've got to admit though that I wonder what my life would be like if I just dropped out of college and went to art school. At 23, almost 24, I don't think it would be a smart choice having put in 5 very long dedicated years. And of course I'm the person who preaches about following your dreams but it is my dream to be a doctor. It will surely be a very fulfilling and rewarding profession for me. Plus, I can always do art on the side, which is what I've been doing all along.
Eventually I will post some of my own artwork, but until then, you'll have to enjoy Jeff Soto's work which I've include in this post. Also, be sure and check out his work on his website and his blog which he updates regularly.
